Skype is a term that I have become familiar with in the last year of so. I have several friends that use it to communicate with family and friends that live several states away. It is also used to communicate with their family while traveling for business. I think it is a great way to communicate because it provides the visual component that is not available with a phone call. After learning more about Skype in Tool 8, I can see the role it can play in the classroom.
Jing is something that was new to me. I really like the fact that it can help you show people what you are talking about, instead of trying to explain it in words. Screencast is one step beyond using print screen to place a screen shot into a document. As a SIS, it would be very helpful for me to use the Jing software when trying to communicate with teachers about technology.
